Advocare

Advocare’s website serves as a critical resource for older Australians and their families. However, the existing site was built with a sector-centric approach, relying heavily on complex terminology and concepts that were difficult for users to understand. This resulted in confusion, increased staff workloads to field inquiries, and missed opportunities to connect with the community.

The website also needed to address the accessibility requirements of Advocare’s primary audience, older adults aged 55+, and its secondary audience of potential volunteers. Advocare wanted a user-centred platform that reflected their values, enabling users to access vital information and support without barriers.

Anthologie partnered with Advocare to design a modern, accessible, and inclusive website that prioritised the needs of its audience. Through a co-design approach, we collaborated closely with older Australians and stakeholders to ensure the platform aligned with Advocare’s mission and empowered its community.

1. Discovery & Co-Design:
   Conducted workshops with older Australians and Advocare staff to gather insights and define user needs. Developed and validated an information architecture that prioritised simplicity and clarity.
2. Prototyping & Testing:
   Created low-fidelity prototypes to validate and test assumptions and incorporate end-user feedback early in the process. Developed high-fidelity prototypes to test and refine designs to ensure ease f navigation and an accessible, supportive experience.
3. Iterative Development:
   Incorporated feedback from testing to deliver a fully optimised website that met Advocare’s requirements.
